I've been following the ADM743 FSAE tutorial and while completing WORKSHOP2/Part2 (Simulating a Full Vehicle Assembly). I get an error in the message window stating the model isn’t defined? So where and when do I need to define the model?
I've been following the ADM743 FSAE tutorial and while completing WORKSHOP2/Part2 (Simulating a Full Vehicle Assembly). I get an error in the message window stating the model isn’t defined? So where and when do I need to define the model?
I've check the usage and it 'looks' ok, other than an extra line in the ASSEMBLY_HEADER that tells it not to load all SUBSYSTEM?
Also, I have noticed that the 2018 assemblies don't have a fsae_full_vehicle.asq file? The 2016 screen shot you sent does and the 2012 version does too. Why would this be?
don't worry about the asq file that is not the issue.
What I would do in your case is to ask the person (or the MSC.Software representative in your area) who gave you the database and overwrite your current one with it.
Otherwise (and this is the long way around) try loading the vehicle in Adams and paste the screenshot of what Adams writes such:
Hi Alexis, can you tell who is "(or the MSC.Software representative in your area)" or point me to the resource that will tell me? I tried to call the regional contact but was just directed to complete an online support request for which my account is not authorised?
I can load up the 2018 fase_front_suspension assembly perfectly. It looks like this doesn't use a tire model, but just a graphical representation of a tire. This, to me, based on everything else so far points to some sort of error in either the tire model (when loading the full vehicle), or some kind of file corruption, which you have already alluded to.
Would it be possible to put the 2016 fsae database in the download section or another area that I can get access to, as you report this as working fine, but not either of the databases I have access to?
Hi Rishi, can you confirm what you mean by saving the powertrain template as ASCII format? Do you mean the \acar\fsae_2018.cdb\powertrains.tbl\600cc_engine_map.pwr?
Is this format already changed in the new fsae_2018.cdb download? If so I've just tried to load the full vehicle assembly and have the same issue? It seem like the files are being converted from 2018.0 version to 2018.1 and then from 2018.1 to 2019.0. This final conversion step seems to be the issue and throws up the warningL
I think I got this. The tire template in FSAE_2018 database points to adams 2017 FSAE tire location. So this results in error when opening the model since it tries to find the tire file in a database which is not there.
Please use the attached updated database for FSAE_2018 where I have made this change. Please remove the earlier database of fsae_2018 and add the one I have attached here.
Please test using this database. Try and open the assembly and simulate this.
1. Please try and place this database on any other drive D:/.... You have placed this under C:/program files/.... I suspect that you do not have enough read or write permissions. Could you please place or copy this fsae_2018.cdb to another location on another drive for example D drive.
Note: Please make sure that you first remove the database from your session. Then copy the cdb to another drive and then add it again.
2. I am attaching another version of this database which should take care of version compatibility problem with this database. Please use this for your testing.
The attached database should help solve the problem. Please copy this to another drive and test.
In case if the problem persists, please let me know your email address and university contact details, we can have a short webex to take a look at this problem.
SUCCESS!!!! I've still got the database on the C:/ drive (I have admin rights on this machine), so decided to run your latest version and it loaded perfectly. I'll run some simulations now and ensure everything continues to perform as expected.
Thanks for both your and Alexis' help with this issue. Very much appreciated.
