  • That's it. All we need to do is buy that software and all our troubles are over. Not in hours or days, but minutes!
  • I can still find no one who uses this successfully. Everyone says it works great on their demo part, but horribly on real parts. I would love to find someone who actually likes it (I will call you though, no pretending for the forum).

See! I knew you were a fun-hater! Neutral face

    does this surprise you??
  • My company bought this PAS software over a year ago and we never found time to use it. The training was for three days and the instructor could not speak English very well and was a software developer. He was all over the place with his training and very hard to follow. The original version had some very limited potential and was difficult at best to use. By the time all the features were labeled and made usable for PCDMIS you could have a complete program written in PCDMIS. Our QC dept is very busy as we are a fast paced job shop, so rather than spin our wheels with PAS we just put it on the back burner.

Now someone in management decided to hire someone to just write programs with PAS for our QC Department. We are supposed to get the latest versions of it and PAS is going to train the programmer remotely using go-to-meeting. But first,I have been tutoring him on how to write programs using PCDMIS. He has shadowed me now for almost two weeks and has tried to write a couple of simple programs in PCDMIS. Keep in mind he has never programmed CMM's before. In his defense he is a bright guy and a very nice person. Stay tuned for how this scenario plays out as there are some heavy internal politics at work in all this.
  • Sounds like instant water to me; just add water. A software you have to learn that writes a program for a software that you didn't learn.

  • use magic words in your programming to improve and add to your program. Magic words are words that are used throughout a program routine to help increase the validity of your magic and to often distract vendor so you can more adequately perform your tricks.

Use words like abracadabra, presto and hocus pocus throughout your program to make the magic happen.
Using these authentic magic words can enhance your influence and status.
Say the magic words with great inflection in your voice.
The magic words sound more authentic and can help make the magic happen.

Use a great gusto in your voice, and say the words proudly and loudly.
This makes your magic words and your program seem even more believable
use the word abracadabra if you want to use the most well-known programming word. It became famous in the cold war era during trade shows and has held true ever since.

The first record of using the word abracadabra comes in 1952 a.d. When it was part of a folklore cure for a computer virus.
Use the words hocus pocus if you want to give your program more of a wizardly feel.
Using the words hocus pocus make your program feel more guru-like.

Some people believe the words hocus pocus come from a corruption of words from a catholic mass, and others think it originates
as being the name of a famous programming guru in the 1960s who was named hocus pocus.

    presto
show when a program is going to be done instantly. The word presto means quickly or instantaneous.
You might have heard the phrase presto chango, which is typically used when performing a transformation.

  • Quote from the article: "It can be used by a non-expert user"

That should yield some interesting results! I can see some pimply-faced, fresh out of high school, $7.25 per hour genius writing my CMM programs. Imagine how much time and money that would save!
  • someone needs to buy this quick and put it on the shelf next to the engine that runs on water.
  • Didn't they have this in a Mythbusters episode recently?.......
