Fixturing

Anyone have any good resources for fixturing? Besides going all out for a design engineering degree.
  • Its everywhere like this, same thing where i work at. One time our big boss decided to send my program to a "third party inspection for verification " to our vendor , the same vendor who makes parts for us, to verify my program. Bc their parts come out out of toll! In the same time he decided to send them thier bad part back, as a master part.

Basically the same people who make bad parts for us, will review my program, and use thier own bad part as a master!

    No logic what so ever

    WHAAAAA.........wow....just wow.
  • WHAAAAA.........wow....just wow.

The big boss decided to do it hush hush, thinking that no one will find out. The big boss is friends with the vendor, that why he decided to use them as a "second party inspection ".

We had a big meeting and I mentioned that the decision about sending the prg for verification to our vendor is missing logic and its a conflict of interest. The VP was shocked about this, he chewed big boss *** out, but that was it. The big boss is still doing stupid crap, whatever he wants and nothing happenes.

There are a lot more stories like this, that will make your hair stand up.

Ive been dealing with this kinda crap for a while now, and similar BS with the enginnering as well.

One time The enginnering asked our vendor to help us with gd&t to dimension the drw as they see it fit. The enginnering claim that they were able to shave off 8hr of machining in result of the vendor modifiying the drw, so that it would be easier to machine!!!

The parts were very complex and instead of designing the drw based on its functionality it was designed based on easier to machine!!

They change all the datums, which made no sense and did not match the mating part scheme. It was lakie having two different art drawings, but they shaved off 8hr of machining!!!!

Yup....sounds about like this place....lol.....but hey, you have to save time....everyone needs to get home a decent hour. And besides they shaved a days worth of work off of machining. GENIUS idea
  • Yeah ridiculous if you ask me!! And when i speak up, they call
    Me not a team player.
  • ... Just wish I could convince my boss that we need to calibrate the tip more than once a week.

    Oh fer f***'s sake Disappointed
  • Alu-Fix also known as Witte, a german based company in Atlanta is pretty awesome also.
