PC-DMIS, especially older versions, is very bad with memory management (as in physical memory, RAM). Having more RAM can help. Saving often helps. Not doing too much cut/copy/pasting helps. Closing and re-opening PC-DMIS regularly helps.
As an actual helpful tip, if ya don't have enough RAM, try increasing the Windows virtual memory.
