Why do you call it "The Demon"?

Is PC-DMIS the demon, or does it just come with one?

Apologies for the choice of location. I just passed my M test today so I'm kinda bubbly.
  • Ahhhhh, that just made my day , even though the monkeys are in a poo tossing competition and I'm in front of the fan.

that's why as we Demon-users gain experience, we develop skin like a pachyderm Sunglasses
cave monkey dung fastballs come with the territory, but just like us? they have good days and bad.......
however, a rhubarb always ensues when they deliberately throw at the head (even though I may be crowding the plate)
  • You sometimes can't expect the same program to run the same way twice. It does things on it's own that will mess up your day.
  • 'Cause the new release are apt to be as ready for use as the new forum format. Don't worry about if it's 'ready' or not, just push it out and let the paying users find workarounds for the flaws, it's the hexagoonagin way.
  • So Very True. This is the only software (PC-DMIS) that I have ever used that is so incomplete. I have never seen a company sell so much of a beta version software ever. I have not been able to figure this out. yet.
  • I call mine "CRASH".

I write a little of the program, go to hit save, "CRASH" send error report
I run a long program for the second time "CRASH" send error report
I look at it sideways "CRASH" send error report
I talk sweet to it "CRASH" send error report
I start calibration, go get some coffee "CRASH" send error report.

    So yeah, "CRASH"

I guess its not to bad the "send error report" is very consistent

Here is my crash list I just started. I wonder how long this list will be in a few months.

    Cancel Execution
    Ctrl + L
    Save
    Delete
    Closed BASIC
    Select CANCEL for Comment
    FILE EXIST for Comment
    Prompt Save Report
    End of Auto Calibration
    Cancel program after executing Form
  • Here's a recipe that will help you get a CRASH as soon as possible:

    - Run Windows 7/64 with only 4GB of RAM
    - Use an insufficient graphics card (or 'integrated graphics') (1)
    - Don't update graphics drivers

None of those are the fault of PC-DMIS (although the error handling in PC-DMIS could be better/more complete).

    (1) NVidia users: Note that the newer drivers from NVidia may need to be told explicitly to let PC-DMIS use the graphics card, if the computer also has 'integrated graphics' (or multiple graphic cards).
  • 'Cause the new release are apt to be as ready for use as the new forum format. Don't worry about if it's 'ready' or not, just push it out and let the paying users find workarounds for the flaws, it's the hexagoonagin way.

Although it has gotten way better - this is still sad and true.
  • PC-DMIS, especially older versions, is very bad with memory management (as in physical memory, RAM). Having more RAM can help. Saving often helps. Not doing too much cut/copy/pasting helps. Closing and re-opening PC-DMIS regularly helps.

As an actual helpful tip, if ya don't have enough RAM, try increasing the Windows virtual memory.
  • Every once in a while PC-DMIS will "crash", but the process still shows up in task manager, and can't be killed, unless one logs off or restarts their workstation. Since it can be killed, one could say that it is immortal, truly living up to the name, "Demon".
