Multiplexer help

A bit of a long shot posting here

I was wondering if anyone on these forums has any experience with setting up a multiplexer.

We have hard gauges with DTI's on them which connect to a multiplexer and then that connects to a pc and into the SPC software. I am running windows 7 on the pc and I am thinking this is where the problem lies. basically the multiplexer connects via RS232 port, when this is plugged in nothing seems to happen, no additional devices in device manager or anything. I have tried using hyperterminal to test but I cannot work that either.

Basically its a big shout for HELP

  • I recently ran into a similar issue with a Mitutoyo multiplexer. I talked directly to a couple of Mitutoyo techs and they told me it would be incredibly difficult to use these older type units with newer computers/OS. We are basically going to have to buy a new one that connects via USB, rather than the old serial connections.

    I would suggest talking to someone at Bobe and see if they can walk you through a process to interface the unit.
