Mac or pc

Hey just wondering what the dfference is. which is which and how are they different. I don't pay much attention to tech stuff
  • Kinda like your Cell Phones Android vs Apple both good, but hey my battery is dead on my Android, can I borrow your Apple charger? No it won't work. Apple, or Mac is a stand alone company, they're not interchangeable with normal PCs.
  • In general Apple has the advantage in graphic arts (e.g. photo editing), computer aided animation, education, a few others. There's a false sense of security that they don't get viruses - they do, but not at the rate of PCs. They tend to be more expensive. They also have good integration into education, schools and universities tend to use them more.

PCs are far more ubiquitous and multisourced. They are more widely deployed in business, so more business software is written for it. There are vastly more hardware options, though that also gives more opportunity for instability and crashing. They can be much less expensive, or much more expensive.

These are sweeping generalities, what you would use it for is the determining factor.
  • I'm kinda disappointed with Apple, last time I ask Siri for a hooker, she sent me to a fish and bait shop.
  • Maybe Siri knew you were a master baiter.
  • I'm an apple guy at home, but Windows everywhere else.

There used to be a big difference when macs were still using their own processors, but now they use Intel just like everyone else.

The biggest thing for me, and the main reason why I still use their stuff: their computers and software are all designed around fixed hardware. The companies developing for their platform know exactly what ram/processors/graphics card etc are in the end users computer. A windows computer could be made from any number of different configurations so you lose optimization.

In the end: they do the same thing, depends what you think is prettier.
  • If you are considering options do not overlook Linux. There are several flavors that range from a user experience very like windoze to closer to unix with lots of options for deep level customization. I used to use Ubuntu until it's new version hardware requirements left my old tank of a laptop behind. Now I run Lubuntu. The L stands for "Lite" as it is a very light OS designed to allow older hardware to interface with the modern innerwebz. There are glitches here and there, mostly with video that I suspect is more my video processor than Lubuntu. Anywho. . . on a new 'puter the Penquin will totally rock as well as Windoze or iOS. Yes you will have a much smaller selection of software, but most applications have at least one solution out there. And it is the super expensive price of "Free". You can download Ubuntu, and several other flavors, to a thumb drive and boot from the thumb drive to test the OS on your hardware at zero risk, before you install it. You can setup a double boot option to boot to either windoze or linux. There are lots of websites with instructions and advice.

  • Is PC-DMIS compatible with Linux? I've only recently been introduced to Linux coding by way of a raspberry pi that I got for Christmas and installed Kodi onto.
  • Yeah, but the download is only available at MAC-Donalds
