DJI Mavic Pro

Just picked it up yesterday. Haven't flown it yet, or shall I say crashed yet. Hopefully the weather tomorrow is decent. If all goes good Maybe I'll post some video. supposed to be 4K quality
  • Wow that is amazing. There is so much to do on that app. I just looked at my flight path and died laughing because its a mess. The app is sweet and I do have a few videos saved so that's cool.
I want to leave work now to fly it. I am ordering another battery or two this week so I can get more time up.
  • That's why I got the combo, 3 batteries, extra wings, extra lenses<<<< haven't used that yet, I really should. More concerned about getting used to it. That small little video didn't show the tripod recording. so much smoother
  • My videos look some what smooth. There is jerking from quick movements but the camera stays so still. I ordered stabilizing legs, gimbal guards, prop guards, motor covers, backpack, extra props. I just need some more batteries, a multi battery charger, and camera lenses.
I need to get a lot more time in to feel comfortable. I want to make sure I know what to do if things get hairy. I don't want to get "lucky", I want to control it and know exactly why I am making every move.
I knew it would be fun but I didn't expect it to be so addicting. But when I learn something new I need to master it or as close as I can to master it. Ha
  • I've been playing bass for 17 years and guitar for 10 years. Dabbed with piano a little. I love drowning myself in playing music.
  • does the Mavic have auto hover? You can do flips and tricks with that one right?
I keep watching the drone racing and I would love to try that. Im no where near ready but I might find a smaller one to do tricks and start there. The ones they race only look like a battery, motors and props, and a camera which they use through goggles.
I think I need to look for a paying job using drones.
  • I dunno yet. I'm still figure out the simple stuff. I'll get there soon. But not ready to go fancy flying yet.
  • Me either, but i'm thinking about it. Haha
    Have a good night
  • I am addicted now and want to fly all the time. On Saturday I dropped my girl off at a baby shower and I drove back to a field I passed and when I got there I saw a guy with model airplanes and I started talking to him and he said that a group of guys fly there every weekend and once during the week. There was about 6 guys who had a bunch of planes and helicopters. One guy had a phantom drone. It was such a good time and those airplanes were cool, some fixed wings and some airplanes. The helicopters were crazy and the tricks they can do with them is beyond amazing.
Everyone should go out and get one and start flying.
  • I know what you are saying about it being addictive I only fly fixed wing but great fun. I have just added an APM 2.8 autopilot system to my large ( 100 inch ) drone first test flight tomorrow so long as the weather holds.

The hobby can take over your house and the wife and kids did not appreciate sharing the same space so was forced to build a 10 x 20 workshop. You will also get very good at hiding away those little extras you just needed have fun.
  • , The fixed wings are crazy. The group of guys I just met had small ones to a large one that has GPS and he was setting points for the plane to follow. The thing was nuts and all tuned up on the Laptop so he could get the most out of the battery. He is getting solar panels for it and expects it to fly for four hours at a time.
The other guys had small fixed wings, large ones, air planes and helicopters. Some of the helicopters were 570 and 700. I couldn't believe what those things could do. They are trying to R&D a drone with a grapple to be able to pull a plane or helicopter out of the trees if it crashes and gets stuck in.
I only have a Phantom3 right now but I am addicted and cant wait to see whats out there. I can see it can get real expensive, never mind crashing one. Once I get the hang of this one I am going to look for one like the ones used for drone racing.
But we work to play and its a lot better than what I used to do with my money.
