Moving Main Control Box

I am not up on the technical names of CMM components but I want to attempt moving the 'main control box', it is the box all the air runs to as well as dials for powering on and off CMM. There is a fair amount of cords and hoses running to and from said box, and I am unsure as to whether it is truly a problem to move them without technical experience. The CMM itself will not be moved. Has anyone attempted this before? I would assume just powering everything down, making the move, and powering back on would be adequate.

The CMM itself is due for calibration this month and I would like to have this task completed before Hexagon comes in for calibration, if possible. I could wait until they come in to move it, but if it takes some time to complete, I do not want to be charged by Hexagon for their services if it is something I can easily do myself.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

  • I was mistaken. The cords and air hose were so knotted up I could not tell which went where. The reason for the move was to clear up space around the CMM as it was left in such a state that the only access point was the 'front', which made it very difficult to place components/parts on the CMM table.

I was able to reach out to Hexagon and they assured me that there was not an issue with moving the box itself and would not require any sort of calibration. I moved everything around yesterday evening and much to my surprise there was a number of electrical cords and hoses that went to nothing at all!

I appreciate the responses. I was having trouble contacting Hexagon yesterday so I made a post here.
