Metrology Putty

Not necessarily a CMM problem or question but does anyone here use metrology putty? If so, what do you prefer. The stuff i looked at is rather expensive so basically fishing for alternatives. Looking for something to make measuring "Hard to Measure" ID features easier to measure. For example...small radii...Thx

  • Thx guys...reprorubber is what i saw online but yes, it is expensive. I was wondering if there was a comparable alternative

You get what you pay for.

Get the sample kit of the putty. It's about $80 and will make quite a few castings if you don't use more than you need.

Long castings will benefit from an artificial spine - I used dead drills and wooden q-tip sticks quite often.

Be careful to not cross contaminate the containers and it will last for several years on the shelf.
