White Light Scanning

We are looking into purchasing a new White Light scanner for our use here (possibly for a CMM replacement) and I thought Id get some opinions from any potential users (brands or prefered software) out there in the PCDMIS user collective.

The white light scanner wont be running PCDMIS of course.
  • Hi, as a long-standing user of PC-dmis and now a long-standing user of a Hexagon WLS-A with Coreview, in the right environment, measuring the parts the system is ultimately designed for (pressings), the system performs excellently. The ability to quickly feed back results during tool try outs is brilliant. The system is affected somewhat by the press blows and direct sunlight but the accuracy of ±0.03 on surface is correct. Holes do cause an issue as the diameter is often incorrect. Depending on your application, speed v accuracy, could determine whether you go for a CMM with laser scanner or a WLS. The software is user friendly yet gives plenty of info.
We currently have 3 measurement cells, a sliding track, 1 robot. Fixtures for all parts, no targeting of panels (except the first part), no spraying of panels and can offer a full measurement inc. around 600 points in around 10 minutes.
