Tempe, AZ high-level CMM programmer position

Hello all, my company is hiring a peer. The position has been open for over 6 months. They can't seem to find anyone.
Fundamentally, we need someone with PC-DMIS, OGP (Measurmind), Calypso, and/or Micro-Vu (Nexiv) programming skills.
I'd like to refer someone, so I can earn the $$$$ bird-dog.
Private message me for more info, if you are seriously considering a jump, and I'll push you the posting via a referral.

This place has amazing benefits ($500 deductible health ins through Aetna, 401k Match, 10k annual tuition reimbursement, 2-3 weeks paid vacation, 1 week sick, paternity leave, normal salaried role, great work/life balance).
Pay is ok (expect 50-70k non-degreed, 60-90k degreed).
We are a large organization, make medical products, and are growing fast.

  • Not trying to cause an argument here, legitimately wondering this.

Why would they pay (significantly) different rates for the same position based on education?

To please investors, maybe. I'm sure it's a long list of reasons... individuals education probably being dead last. Here where I am currently working there was a big fuzz about no longer accepting machine shop positions without a degree, some were really bummed... they've quietly turned the requirements back down after a few months without notifying internal folks hahaha they still haven't filled positions. It is true here that they will compensate more for education but will try to low ball you for lack of experience. If you have experience you'll get low balled for lack of degree. Long story short if you don't like an offer take your business elsewhere. If you take the offer and are capable they WILL NOT TURN YOUR SERVICES DOWN, though I would expect a 'hey you're not capable so don't do an awesome job'.

Can't imagine making $90k in Tempe AZ. I'd be on MTV Cribz! Here in SD middle class starts at $117k I think LOLZ!
  • Cost of living here is great. Our annual property tax is equal to what typical CA homes pay in a month (~$2000/yr for a typical middle class home).

As for the pay, I couldn't agree more. I know of a peer who is making 10k more than I am, even though I have >15 years experience & associates degree. His 4yr degree and 3 years experience is apparently worth more. Degreed employees can carry the official title, otherwise they coin us unedu-macated folk "specialists".
