Got a shop floor CMM with no air bearings, never worked with this in the past only air bearings. This one needs a good cleaning after a period of borderline abuse, just wondering if anybody gives the rails a touch of Molykote or anything at all after cleaning or should they run completely clean and dry?
to me it would just collect dust, i'm inclined to want it clean and dry but this particular machine was run with one of the accordion type covers open and it got worse than i care to describe, I almost fell over when I saw it. Never had to service a linear bearing like this so taking the time to look around for info before I start
