Who else loves Auto-Align?

I can select a plane and two circles and it does all the work for me! I don't even need to create a line between the circles. Also, it helps with my OCD. I always worry about which order is technically correct.

  • I always construct alignments in different steps (for example measure a plane / level and origin on it, mesasure two circles / rotate circ1 to circ2 / origin on circ1).
It allows measuring circles in the right work plane.
I believe (I'm not sure of it because I never done it !) that, in an alignment in 1 step, PC-DMIS find the features to make it works fine, whatever the order... But I don't recommand to do it in another way than for a simple test !
  • What do you do if you want to recall the primary alignment throughout your program? After you do each alignment do you then do a final alignment that includes all three steps? Would it make the most sense to: Take the first feature then level/translate it. Take the second feature then re-level/translate the first feature and rotate to the second feature. Take the third feature then re-level/translate the first feature, re-rotate to the second feature, and translate to the third feature?
