Running CMM and programming (on different computers)

At my job we have 5 CMM's, 2 programmers/operators, and 1 guy that does manual measurements and very simple CMM parts (operator, not programmer). Of the 2 of us that program, I am the better and faster programmer (not ego speaking, just facts and what my boss relays to me). Because of that I am being given the bigger and most complex parts to program which pulls me away from the running parts for decent amounts of time. My boss brought me the idea of setting up an offline DMIS programming station next to the CMM that I primarily run so I can keep the CMM running while programming.
The question is, have any of you had experience programming and running two different parts at the same time (on different computers obviously) and how well did/does it work for you?

My concern is getting my mind into one part then having to switch gears to another part and back and forth and so on. I like the idea but I don't want to miss anything on either part because I was doing too much at one time.

Thoughts, opinions, is it Friday yet???
