I just wanted to relief my chest by saying what happened to me this morning , i cant stop blaming myself , we have 0.5 tip for led measurment i was creating an ittertaive program and had lot of parts to finish before leaving , so after running the code and hititng all the points , it comes the step where the cmm wante to verify each id , i validated the first hit then tried to move close to the next one but "manually" to "rush out" before validating (beacuse travel speed was slow) the joystick was at full speed and tried to approach the next hit point ,but boom i accelarted right into the part and tip broke , i wash shocked , its the only available , i still havent report this yet because its weekend , im having the worst day now ,
im that kinda of person who takes work so seriously that it affects my own mood if something went bad ,
i even think of purchasing it , can i order it as an individual ?
Stuff happens. I have broken a few tips in my day. Early on in my programming days, we had a fixture that ran multiple parts. There was a screw underneath as a stopper for a certain part. Well, I was running a different part and needed to bring this screw down all the way. Let's just say I forgot to do so, and the part was 1" higher in the air than needed to be and the probe came down full speed. I shattered the probe and broke the module. It was like $900.
The probe you broke is around $100.
Like I said, stuff happens. Tell your boss and apologize. Live and learn. And remember, don't rush it. Unless your company has a policy that says accidents need to be paid out of pocket (which I highly doubt they do), they should be the ones paying for the fix.
I've broke more than my share of tips. It's going to happen. You'll fat finger a move or the part isn't where you expected it to be. I have even managed to break off a PH9 indexing head by telling the machine to make a 10 inch clearance move instead of a 1 inch move and then running at full speed. Broken tips are just a cost of doing business. I've learned to keep a couple of spares. Seems like the only tips that get broke are the ones that there is no spare for.
I can understand you feel bad, but I also understand that you broke it !!!!
There are terribly fragile!!!
Stem is Ø0.4 only...
Make your apologizes to your boss, and ask him to order some tips, because it will happen another time !!!!!
i didnt get you well when you said "but you broke it" what were you reffering to , yes they are so fragile and next time i will sure to slow down and do not run code if there is a risk of crashing , by the way i couldnt see the price on the link you hv posted?
yeah i hv told him , and he did accepte it and told me he himself broke a couple , i felt to much better , i will be more carefull in the futur , thank you for your reply
We used to keep some piano wire with the tips we broke on it, and made a necklace out of it. Every time you broke one we made you wear it for the rest of the day sort of like a cone of shame.
