Well New York is in Shutdown and California, From a pretty reliable source that the State of Illinois is going on lockdown on Monday, possibly announce it on Sunday or even possible today. For those in Illinois get ready.
Aerospace/defense here in the St. Louis area. We still have everybody at work except one inspector but that's because the daycare facilities have shut down and there is nobody to watch his kid. The company is being very accommodating and understanding. Really is an unprecedented (in our lifetime) situation all over the world right now.
Many of our office workers are working from home now and there are no face to face meetings anymore except on the floor. The cafeteria hasn't been shut off, but only a few eat there now, only one person per table. Even the coffee area has tape on the floor where you are to wait for the first person to leave before you approach the coffee maker.
Today I my company told me that Friday will be our " Pause day " they company will shut down for 49 days -_- I have to file for unemployment now. but at least the company will continue to pay for insure. now I am looking for a part time job. theres no way i can afford to sit around at home waiting for unemployment.
Update: The company I work for received letters from the DOD, Navy, Air Force, and Homeland Security saying that we are essential and need to stay working. Oh the perks of working for the defense industry.
If you have a mortgage and or car payment, call them up and ask to have a furlough, they will and should put that months payment at the end of your loan or loans. I did this back in 2008? I believe? under the circumstances they will help, all the help, I can give you.
Split crew - that's good thinking right there. I've asked my company to consider it, nothing.
Beginning of the week everyone was wiping everything down, hand sanitizing, distancing, etc. Not so much at the end of the week. The cleaning bottles are empty, people are hanging out real close to each other. It's funny, there was a little gloating, a competitor had a confirmed case and got shutdown, people were all excited that we'd get their business. Then some of the inspectors found out they may need to inspect parts out of that facility and are refusing.
