Bored of programming

I have been in programming for about 6 years and feel like I am a bored of it right now.
I don't want to leave the field because of money and I do enjoy the work.

Do any of y'all ever feel bored of programming? What do you do to overcome the slump?

  • I understand your feelings. I felt the same way when I left my last job. I went to a shop that challenges me more and I learn from those challenges. My knowledge had grown exponentially the last few years. Once they saw I had a handle on what I was doing, they kept upping the difficulty. Now the most difficult, largest, and most complex jobs get singled out for me. I am not the most senior guy in my department but I am the most knowledgeable. It actually gets to be fun when those around you can't teach you anything else and you have to figure it out on your own. This is the first time I've been in that position and I enjoy it greatly.
