You must have PC DMIS open. THEN, go into the 3Dconnexion app to mess with your speeds. It MUST say PCDLRN in 3Dconnexion. Apparently PCDLRN is the name of the PC DMIS CAD environment. I was accidentally closing out of PC DMIS, then editing my speeds in 3d all the while not realizing that I was ACTUALLY messing with speeds for windows explorer & NOT for PC DMIS.
If you look down at
A-machine-insp 's pic comment, you'll see that when he opened up his snipping tool, 3Dconnexion on his side changed the environment to Snipping tool lol. If he messed with speeds in 3d, it would be for snip & not for his CAD stuff if he wasn't paying attention (like I was doing).

All,
Is there a setting in PC DMIS to turn down the edit window's pan/zoom speed?
I have a 3DCONNEXION Mouse...
I have the mouse's speed all the way down in the 3Dconnexion App. When I go into PC DMIS and try to move a model around, the model still whips around really fast.
When I use the mouse in 3Dconnexion's training app, solidworks, or NX.... it works much slower that PCD (exactly how I'd like it to) which is the frustrating part. It seems like PC DMIS has it's default speeds set much higher than other CAD/CAM software that we have.
Any ideas on how to handle this? My hands are getting tired from all of the "mouse work", would like to start utilizing this mouse more.
Also, would any of you recommend a different mouse/have had good experiences with any other kinds?
yeah, lots of 'things' are hard-coded into Pcdmis, like the SCROLL function, and there is nothing you can do about it. You can set your mouse wheel to "page" and Pcdmis still uses it's own hard-coded number of lines that it scrolls. I'm not sure about a 3D mouse, but my guess is that it is also some hard-coded thing you can't change.
EDIT TO ADD: After opening the 3dconnexxion settings, click on the DMIS window. Where my screenshot says "SnippingTool" it should say "PCDLRN". You are only adjusting settings for the program shown in the settings window but it is easily changed by clicking on the program you want to make changes for.
DAN_M Hit the advanced settings button in the 3D mouse settings window. There are sliders for the individual axis speeds. This is how mine are set.
thanks for the advise! I always knew about the speeds and wasn't understanding why it wasn't working until I saw your pic comment. it made me stumble upon my problem and ultimately fix it lol I'll edit the original post with the answer
Matthew D Hoedeman Correct. I have not found a way to adjust it in DMIS. The 2nd settings page for the mouse gets me what I want. The only thing I would like to make faster is the left/right and up/down pan speed. It is as fast as I can make it now and is still a bit on the slow side for my liking.
I have that 3DCONNEXION mouse. It works a treat in PC-DMIS.
It's on the left side of my keyboard so I can mouse with the right hand and 3D with the left.
I have the buttons on the 3DCONNEXION set so the right (thumb) button zooms out and re centers the graphic display.
Left button deletes.
Are there keyboard commands assigned to iso and top view?
If not, can you assign key commands to them?
Then assign those commands to the buttons.
ed: fwiw,
I've found using the mouse wheel to zoom, mouse right click to pan, and the SpaceNavigator to rotate and re-center to be very efficient.
ISO and Top views are pretty to look at but rarely the only views with stuff to measure... unless you're doing sheet metal.
Following your advise, I made a hotkey for Isometric View in PCD & assigned it to my left button and then used PCD's CRTL+Z (scale to fit) and added that to my right button.
These buttons along with getting a handle on my speeds are going to/have made my job a lot easier. I appreciate all who responded!
