Arm with Scanner

Well we just purchased a Romer with blue light scanner, This will be the first one I ever worked with. Technically we are getting this for the machinist to scan over the parts quickly on various operations, plus there has been times we had some funky parts with very tight profile tolerances. This is suppose to save me time, because I'm backed up on the CMM writing programs.......wait that means I got to write at least simple programs for the arm, yeah this will make things fasterRolling eyes. Maybe I can keep it simple enough to get them to make simple programs for simple checks???? Well it ought to be fun.

  • Yeah, been down this rabbit hole and it doesn't really bother me. I ordered 5 bridge, 2 arms, and 3 visions once and that took a long while though we took longer to build the new QC department anyways so that worked out. I might order one here and dump the old "red light" type laser on the 7-10-7 as it's not even used and I can take my time phasing it in correctly versus half ashing it.

If it don't make money it don't make sense.. keeping a large inventory doesn't make sense to me either. Most people only make one CMM transaction in their lifetime... these items last a loooong time!

I don't disagree that it would be nice to have stuff as soon as you hand over the frog skins either!

Gotta have something on hand, sh_it breaks all the time, CMMs are like anything else, they break down. You can say CMMs last forever, I would beg to differ, just from the rework I personally have done on them, and all the who-haw I hear on this sight. To have nothing, is just a cop-out to taking the money and as a salesman, washing your hands and saying "I'm done"+
  • @KP61DUDE I love to test everythings limit, If somethings rated to go at 90 MPH, cool, let's see what happens at 100 mph. Just like my computer overclocked everything until it stop working or blue screen, backed it up a tad, and she's running as fast as she can till she breaks. and as far as the salesman part, I kind of go by what my ol man told me when I was young " Son you can be anything in the world you want to be, anything. Except a Salesman , Politician, or Lawyer. Because If your anyone of those, I'll never believe a word you say"
