That's probably due to the competitive nature of the current job market. They have to have a one-up on the competition.
I suspect I will be putting in my two weeks tomorrow or Friday so, since we are painfully slow, I have started cleaning up my area. There is a possibility that they will not have me work the two weeks and may let me go immediately so I have everything as ready as it can be to leave. I have no issue working the two weeks but, if they let me go immediately, they better still pay out my unused vacation time. Also, if they don't have me work the two weeks, I will probably move up my start date by a week and take a week off in between to get some rest... then go racing that following weekend.
In case you can't tell... I'm pretty excited about this.
IDK about where you live but in MA & CT its the law that they have to pay you out for unused vacation time. Def look into this, don't leave all that $$ on the table!
Our handbook says (not sure on the law) that if 2 weeks is given then 100% of unused vacation time is paid out, if 1 week is given then 50% is paid out and less than 1 week notice you get none paid out. I have no intention of leaving that money on the table as I have almost 50 hours unused vacation time. I will leave immediately if they ask me to AND they pay out the vacation but that is the only way I am working less than 2 weeks.
amen brother hold onto that 50hrs, thats a lot of $$
