Feeling Petty..

I was feeling a bit petty today. (Sorry the post is long)

Last Monday a machinist crashed a machine and we lost about 20 hours of production. (No one really gave him a hard time about it at all besides the supervisor telling him to pay better attention)
Thursday that same machinist turned in that lot of parts and we found a small burr at the top of the threads on most parts.

Machinist "Well what did the first piece look like"
Me "Why does that matter, a burr is a burr?"
Machinist "If the first piece has a burr then yall bought it off that way"
Sure enough, unfortunately, the first piece had the same burr at the top of the threads. (One of our hand mic guy missed it, he is human)

So the rest of the day I overheard him tell the same story about how he has to rework parts because QC missed a burr on the first piece.
I must have overheard him telling the story 5 times.

So today he turns in a first piece. Me feeling very petty I don't even check one dimension. I look at the top of the threads and immediately kick it back for burrs.
It is a heavy part and I happily carry it back out there to him and walk away quickly so he doesn't have time to rework it and expect me to carry it back.

He turns it back in and then I checked the threads and they were tight because when he deburred them he pushed the top thread in a bit.
I walk it back out there and kick it back to him again.

The only thing I am sad about is that the surface finish passed... I was going to make him hand sand it all back in.
I think I am going to carry this on for at least a week with him...

Typically with something small like this we would just take care of it really quick in QC with an xacto knife or something.
I am not this way normally but I feel like I need to stick up for my team.
