Was in a production meeting waiting for it to start. People were talking about random things and of course "Covid" gets brought up. (please realize the irony that I am in a closed & unventilated room with these people..because they were willing to share their vaccine status they get to be maskless...because i refuse to share my status they assume i am not vaccinated and therefore force me to wear a mask).
Production Assistant: "Hey, did you all notice how its literally ONLY the engineers and programmers who don't want to get vaccinated? Why is that?"
Machinist: "They have critical thinking skills. Most of the people here (motioning to the room) do what they're told at work and in life".
Room went dead silent, a few people chuckled, am starting to get really turned off by people. =/ Was very uncomfortable sitting there as a "second class" employee with a mask on.
Any thoughts on the moron on high's statement to require all companies with 100+ employees to make sure every employee is vaccinated? Calling him the moron on high should summarize how I feel about it.

My shop is less than 100 employees but we do parts for the military. Not sure what the plan is there. I had to get the vaccine though because I am one of the primary caregivers for my dad. I have to take him to the hospital for chemo and tests and such.
The moment they ask me to do anything I will tell my boss that ill take the weekly tests under 2 conditions. It will be on COMPANY time. and also I will NOT pay for it when it inevitably comes to that. If its a no deal I have a place to go and work as a backup with less than 100 employees.
Luckily i had a conversation with my boss yesterday about my performance and he made clear that they want to keep me happy and on board.
Signed documentation with a legal witness. Everything would be in writing. If they decide to fire me down the road I would then be eligible to collect unemployment due to their agreement to my contract.
I don't know how to tag people in comments or else I would tag you. the @ symbol aint workin.
But you're not kidding. It really is a shame. And at the end of the day I do not have any problems with my employer at all. I actually love my job. I plan to retire from this place. But the current administration is forcing their hand which forces mine. And if more people fight back the way I will maybe these companies will talk to state Governors and pressure them to issue executive orders at the state level fighting against the "requirement" Georgia and Texas already have.
cheesiechanman You are correct. It's going to take many people fighting back. I know "75%" seems like a small (?) percentage to the administration, hence the applied force on the remaining "25%", but it scares me that <<25% will fight to get out from under the applied force. The numbers are not very promising.
