The main reason people don't but manual is that there is no longer an advantage to racing with them. With modern automatics being the king of the drag strip, and paddle shifted DSG,DCT or slush boxes being so fast, you eliminate the room for error. At this point it's purely an experience/pleasure option. But I will still opt for the manual if it's an option on anything I purchase that's a pleasure vehicle.

yes shifts as fast as .05 seconds in semi automatic transmissions if you got the cash for it... I don;t and want the gearbox and clutch I can service myself, also think for the street I'd rather see more people put down the fkn phone and grab a stick.. it forces your focus to be more on driving the car
I think that is the number 2 reason as well, the top reason is just laziness so people can commute like half awake zombies... maybe if some of them saw the repair bills coming for their automatic transmissions they would have chosen manual
