Venting

So I was out last week with the rona and the operator (programmer in training) was supposed to run some parts for me while i was out. Well Its a very simple program with a simple manual alignment and CAD. Well i get a phone call while I'm lying in bed and she said the CAD was gone. So she didn't know where to take the manual hits.

Understandable... so I told her to hit CTRL+Z and it should bring the CAD into view. Nothing. I ask her if she can see the points. she says yes. Then i ask her to bring the CAD file back in since the CAD was gone and then we could walk through transforming the CAD to match the hits. Well she imports the CAD again and says the CAD is still gone. I ask her to send me a picture of the screen........

The report window was open..... It was over top of the graphics display window. That's it. That was the huge issue that she couldn't figure out. And she is blaming me saying I should be more descriptive in my programs so that when issues like this happen she knows what to do. I'm at a loss for words...

Our company as a whole has been having a lot of run ins with this lady and I am fed up with it. This is my second negative interaction with her in just a few weeks and she has been here less than 2 months.

Let me preface this with my standard work day is 10 hours and I had just put in a PTO slip to leave at lunch one day in the following week.
    Work - 6:00am - 11:30am (5.5 hours)
    Unpaid Lunch 11:30am - 12:00pm
    Work 12:00pm - 4:30pm (4.5 hours)

    Hi J,

Your request for 5 hours (11:30am – 4:30pm) of PTO on Thursday April 14, 2022 is approved.

    Hello HR,

Thank you. Just wanted to confirm that will be paid as 4.5 hours PTO though because typically from 11:30-12:00 I am at lunch.

    Hello J,

Unfortunately, no, if you are leaving at 11:30am then you should clock out completely for the day. Remember, lunch is required when you work 6 hours or more and your shift starts at 6am. I have taken the liberty of modifying your absence request from 4.5 to 5 hours.

    Hey HR,

That morning I will not be working 6 hours, I will be working 5.5 hours + 4.5 hours PTO to equal 10 hours total.
If the PTO is for 5 hours I will have 40.5 hours for the week.

    Best,

    J,

I’m aware that you aren’t working 6 hours. I merely stated that if you are working 6 hours or more that lunch is required . Correct it is 4.5 hours of PTO. *gaslighting me* Also, it was unnecessary for you to copy Owner1 and Owner2 on this thread. I see exactly what you are doing. I know my job and going forward don’t undermine me in that way.*she isn't my manager*

    Respectfully,

That is not what you said in the email. You stated, “I have taken the liberty of modifying your absence request from 4.5 to 5 hours.” when the correct request is for 4.5 hours.

I did not mean to undermine you in any way, I simply CC’d Owner1 and Owner2 for transparency in our conversation as well as their potential feedback.

I don’t appreciate the accusation of “seeing exactly what I am doing… going forward don’t undermine me in that way”.
I think there is a kinder way to talk to the employees of this company.

    Best,
