Slope of lines: Created from points at Basic Diameters

Team,

I'm having trouble with Slope of lines created from points at Basic diameters. The picture shows 4 points ( E,F,G AND H ) all located on Basic diameters. The slope call out appears to be asking slope of each line to Datum -A-, which is the top plane, Z axis of part. I have taken these points at the specified basic diameters, created lines from these points, but the results are 0.297 inches. I know I'm doing something wrong.
Any help is appreciated. Will provide more info if needed.
Greg.

  • I drew something up in Rhino, where I started with Ø7.260 and increased diameter with 0.405 until I reached Ø8.88. This gives me 5 diameters.
Created a line with 1° from point E, and intersected this line with all the diameters:

    Point, X, Y

    E -1.318 3.382
    E+1 -1.321 3.598
    E+2 -1.325 3.811
    E+3 -1.329 4.024
    F -1.332 4.235

For the other side, just make X positive. The only thing we lack is the vector, maybe can do some mathwiz and calculate it for us, or you can create E and F as generic features, construct a line between them and use the vector from the line + 90° as vector for the points.

You might want to doublecheck my figures just to be safe.
  • Thank you, what is Rhino, looks very useful.
