I am wondering what your companies process is for taking .STL files and converting them into .STEP files. We recently sent out a part to be scanned and received a .STL file but the designer here keeps sending me massive files 400,000 KB IGES files from the scan and my PCDMIS keeps crashing. Is there anything I can suggest to him so we can get this file made the right way? I'm not sure what the designers capabilities are but it is my understanding that the designer has to overlay the mesh file to the CAD file and actually manipulate the CAD to match the scan. I could be wrong but please guide us in the right direction. Thanks!
