Before anyone begins making allegations, the Beer thread was not deleted on purpose.

While cleaning up old off-topic threads I inadvertently missed excluding that one. As a way to make up for it, I've reinstated the rep points.

  • I am currently sipping the Ommegang Abbey Ale. I noticed on the bottle, and on their website, references of a relationship with Duvel. Can you enlighten me on this Craig? Does Duvel have some ownership or is it just a bottling and distribution relationship? Not that it matters, both are very good brewers. I am just curious.

    Ommegang was started 10 years ago as a private company by a couple (husband/wife). After a couple of years they partnered with Duvel (I want to say Duvel was like 30 or 40% owner). I don't know when it happened but Duvel bought the remaining interest in the company and is now the owner. Ommegang is the exclusive U.S. importer of Duvel. The beer formulas are original Ommegang as far as I know just ownership changed.

    Drank a 750 of their flagship beer (burgundian) last night.
