How Reputation is Supposed to work in this Version

After some research, the way that reputation is supposed to work in this new version is that if you push the "like" button on someone's post, you are conferring reputation points to them, according to your relative "power" to give reputation. Your relative reputation is displayed below your avatar as a series of red bars. If you roll over, it offers a text interpretation of the score.
Reputation "power" is earned based on longevity as a forum member, post count and your own reputation.

So start "liking" those posts!

  • Seeing reputation power has not been possible for me since they forum "upgrade", but it's not impossible to figure out. Thanks for pointing me to the help files BTW.

    Guess what I discovered. Alien

But no more square. I guess I'll change to Expressionless (apathy) now. That's how I feel about the change so far. And the loss of rep...

Sorry admin, but BFire does not have higher rep than I, even though that seems to be what it shows. And AndersI has lower rep? And Jefman? Something isn't adding up. Upside down And on the old forum version, you could look and see you rep power, on the same screen as the rep notes.

I thought I HAD restored the square smiley. But I hadn't. So he's back.Slight smile Along with a few new ones.

And I checked-- Bfire and JEFMAN DO have a higher rep than you. And all of you have more than the minimum level, so It did transfer over. It's just that the "rep meter" might have a different scale than it used to.

Slight smileSlight smile YESSSS!!!! That's my jam.

That may be true now, but I'm skeptical that it was true before. Not just me, but Anders(?!) and Jefman(?!) too (being lower than BFire, that is. No offense BFire, you're a helpful person too, you just happen to be a useful example, as you posted in this thread :squareSlight smile.

No, I get it! I had full rep level on the old forums too. I think that if you have full reps in the old forum, the new forums should carry through.
  • This is how mine looks, and I know that people don't like me that much.

I thought we couldn't see our own level?

You can see your own level, what you can't see is your "reputation power"-- which is a measure of how much your "likes" influence someone else's reputation. So someone with higher "power" that likes someone's post has a greater influence on the recipient's reputation than a like from someone who, say, has just joined and has only posted twice.

Reputation power is calculated based on three factors:
The length of time you've been a member
    Your post count
Your own reputation score (this is why you can't "like" your own posts)
  • If rep isn't borked, then explain how someone with 6 posts look like he has higher rep than Ninja Badger, Anders, JEFMAN, me, etc

His says "is a glorious beacon of light" and mine says "will become famous soon enough"... And Hoedeman is "on a distinguished road"??! Yeah, rep is totally not borked. Rolling eyes

My rep power before was 123ish. Something like 12k rep... now I seem to have started over?
