Ya'll like original music?

My cousin just released his first album and had an album release party this past Saturday. He's been writing songs since 2019 and performing with his band since the middle of 2020. He entered into a world wide song writing contest and ended up winning the whole thing. There was also an article posted recently comparing his song writing to that of some of the great lyrical geniuses'

"Tyler’s songwriting is right up there with some of the best in the genre: Chris Knight, Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, Hayes Carll, Todd Snider, Jason Isbell, James McMurtry , and yes, I said it—John Prine."

If you all could give him a listen and then a shout out on FB or something. His band is The Hill Figs and his name is Tyler Hood. You can also find the two songs he won the contest with on Youtube. "Lost Love & Home" and "Tears and the Wine"

Let me know what yall think.

  • Congrats to your cousin! I'll check it out tonight at home. Better speakers at home. Thanks for the heads up!
  • Thank ya much. He's got a few songs online from when he won the contest as well. He got a recording gig as a prize in Nashville. So you can see some of his other originals too.

The 8 songs on the album are some of his first songs he wrote. He played some of the songs for his next album and his writing has improved drastically since those.

However I'm a little biased so id honestly like to know what you guys think of him & his songs. He had around 150-200 people pay admission to his album release so id say he's doing pretty well for himself however I know a lot of the people there had ties to either him or his band members.
