Throw in some messageboxes displaying your path for debug purposes, if any of those vars are empty, you'd be SOL.
That is the best suggestion I could give, I use message boxes all the time for debugging purposes. So often, what you are expecting is not what is returned in the variable.
Both of the scripts create a folder in the same place in the folder hierarchy. The one I'm having trouble with currently is just using the serial number value from the program as the name instead of the concatenated name of the other folder from the other script.
