PC-DMIS to Excel

I would like a couple of Guru's to sign up to take a look at an Excel Spreadsheet I created to import measurements from multiple parts into one Excel Spreadsheet. This app has been created for use only with PC-DMIS V4.0 and up. I have tested it in 4.0 and 4.1 with the following dims ...

Location, Distance, TP, Profile Surf, Profile Line, Concentricity
Circularity, Perpendicularity and Parallelism.

But it should work with any type of dimension. Basically I dissected the existing source code for the wizard and made it to suit my needs. Before I (or we) release it to the masses I would like a couple of people who would be willing to beta test it in their environments and maybe make some suggestions for improvements. The spreadsheet was written in Office 2003/VB6 although office apps do tend to be backward compatible if you have an older version of office.

Cheers!

  • Use the following procedure to select the correct PCD library reference depending on the version of spreadsheet and PCD you are using.

    1. Open the Excel spreadsheet.
    2. Select Tools | Macros | Visual Basic Editor. The Editor opens.
    3. Select Tools | References. The References dialog box appears.
    4. Deselect the PC-Dmis 4.2 Object Library check box.
    5. Select the PC-Dmis 4.3 Object library that you have installed on your system.
    6. Click OK.
    7. Select File | Close and Return to Microsoft Excel.
    8. PC-DMIS will now use that object library to load constants and function definitions.
  • Excel Spreadsheet Tutorial

The attached Zip file is a PowerPoint presentation explaining how to set the correct reference library for the version of PC-DMIS you have on your computer.

This presentation also covers the basics of what each button I have on the spreadsheet does.

For the latest versions of the spreadsheet please PM me with your e-mail address and include the version of PC-DMIS you are using.

If the attachment does not show up here PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you the presentation.

    Thank you.

  • Additional Notes on Macro Security

It has been found in some cases if your security settings are set to high the macros we wrote to run the spreadsheet may not work. If you click "Import" and nothing happens then chances are the macros have been disabled by your security settings.

To correct this select Tools : Options : Macro Security and set protection to medium.

A little feedback. In 4.3mr2 RC it worked great. I have an older copy also; I don't remember that one taking in subsequent parts?? Am I just forgetting??

You must have had a very old copy. I did make the change to add an unlimited number of parts to the spreadsheet a while ago. Software is never really done - hopefully in the process of upgrading the spreadsheet I haven't broken anything that used to work. Slight smile I hope you enjoy it. I'm sure through the forum you have helped me over the years so it's nice to be able to return the favor.
  • Is there some way to have it give the dimension name and not the location
  • It is working as intended per our industry standard. Each dimension on our print requires a separate control number. Therefore any particular part feature could have several dimensions defining it. This is why it is not practical for us to use the feature name in column A on the spreadsheet. We must use the dimension name here instead.

The best I could do for you would be to add another column at the end with the name of the reference feature. That way you could cut and past the contents of that column into column A once you are finished importing the dims from all of your parts.

    Fair enough?

In Stats it gives an option to us dimension name or feature name. It would be nice if this could be put within the Excel Sheet. That way you could have a choice. Other then that it works real good so far. Thank You

I have written this option into the code and should have something for you soon. Thank you for the input.

I have also added a button to add "Min", "Max", "Average", and "Std Dev" columns automatically to the end of the spreadsheet.

I have also improved the speed for Clear and Clear All commands.

I have also added a "Help" button for an explanation of what the different buttons do.

We should have a major release in about 1 week. My Outlook.pst file was corrupted a while ago and I no longer have the distribution list. If you want to be included on releases of the spreadsheet please e-mail me at tim@rapiddtm.com.

    Thanks!

  • Looking for Excel Help

    Hi Folks,

I am working with 3.5 and am in an urgent need of a script to output data. I had a script for 4.2 but unfortunately, I have learned the lesson of keeping my own private files after losing my last job without warning.

If someone would do me the favor of sending a message to jpfouts@gmail.com I would really appreciate it!!

Thanks in advance for your help.
