Hyperview Reporting (Need Help)

Thanks to everyone in advance for taking the time to read an help with this...

I am fairly new to PC DMIS and I have an upcoming project that will require the usage of the "Hyperview" Reporting format. What I need is for someone to lay out the basic procedure for putting this feature into a program. I come from a Metrologic and Polyworks background where you simply take report snapshots of the graphics display window and tell the software to print the specified pictures.

Essentially this is going to be a 40pg report with 2 - 5 annotation call outs per sheet. With that being said I am looking for the fastest way to have PC Dmis generate the report snapshots of the CAD file with the annotations and print it out.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
  • Hyperview doesnt exist in V2011.
    That went out after V3.7.
Check out the hexagon reporting tutorials posted on this site.

    So what's this, then?

  • That is the hang-over that allows those hyper-reports that have been created in the past to still function when the program migrates up to the new version. From what the "good" peepul at HexMet/Wilcox have said is that it no longer exists in any version above 4.x
  • Well, it says HyperReport, it saves as xx.RPT, sure looks like a HyperReport to me...
Or are we talking about something else?

Although, as they are called "Legacy", it might be better to learn how to do a "Custom Report" instead...
  • nice edits.....

For 6+ years, they have told us that hyper-reports are no longer something you can CREATE in Pcdmis (from the moment they changed the reporting format from "two" standards" to "screw-you, you didn't like the 2 standards now YOU can waste your time coming up with something, we're busy playing games" version, ie V4.x+).
  • hyper reports (now Legacy) do exist, can be created, edited. By default they are saved in a pcdmis v37 format so the older version can read them. There is a registry setting to override the default version
    Reporting, HyperReportPcdmisSchema
  • Lets change the wording a bit to keep this thread on topic... What I called Hyperview reporting is now Custom Reporting.

How do I generate a Custom Report with the CAD Model and a couple of annotation "stickers/flags/labels" which contain x,t,z, Nominal, Actual, Deviation, and Tolerance? I need a quick way because I will be building 3 programs all 40+ pages in length in this format.

And when customer demand made them change their mind and re-instate HR creating/editing you're p****d about that?

I see it as something positive, a "you talked, we listened" from Wilcox' side.

    Edit: Sorry for going off-topic.

You start the Custom Report editor (File -> New -> Report -> Custom), put the Edit Window in Overview mode (the tree-structured one), and drag your dimensions from the EW to the report. Add a CAD Reporting Object and put your labels around that, maybe changing which label template is used, to make it look better. Add pages when you need more room. Rinse and repeat.

Or, you could use the already made general report template CADONLY or CADONLY_LANDSCAPE as is, just adding views in the program, deciding how the CAD will be shown and what dimensions to show. All without having to edit the report at all. The report will follow the view changes in the program.

And yet, when they put it back in, NO ONE said anything about it. Never saw any tech about it, never saw any customer (re USERS ON THIS BOARD) talk about it, how it was back and SUCH a useful thing to be put back into the software, so it must have been for a "BIG CUSTOMER" again. So, it is a "BIG CUSTOMER TALKED" and you listened, but then didn't tell anyone about it, except the BIG CUSTOMER. Just like the vector point issue, "Oh, you're a BIG CUSTOMER, we have to bow down to you, but pizz on all the little guys, who cares if YOUR desire to tack on a 3rd party buggy bug reporting module screws up the vector point functionality, we'll just keep that a secret from all those little guys (who don't matter in the least) who depend on it for almost everything the check!". Oh wait, THAT snafu thread (which included one of YOUR PEOPLE telling us that you all KNEW about the vector point bug due to the BIG CUSTOMER request) got deleted since it has to be kept a secret that you knew you were putting out a release with a bug that huge and dangerous. Oh well.
  • Using Hyper Reporting will not be quick nor will you get the results that you want without some serious immersion into the Hyper Reporting suite.
