Jog box Issues

Hey all. I'm having an issue that continues to keep happening with our CMM jog boxes. We have two small CMM's a performance and an image. The issue I'm having is that every few months or so when holding just the enable button on the jog box the machine will move the probe in the -Z- direction either up or down with using the joystick. I know how to reset the controller and it will go back to normal for a little while before reverting back to the old way. However, one machine has a much stranger issue. Same issue in the fact that it happens just by holding the enable button, but this one moves in the -X- and -Y- coordinate towards the back right of the machine. I cannot even reset the controller to stop it from happening. We have re ordered so many new jog boxes over the past year or two that it is becoming an issue. Now mind you these jog boxes are no mistreated or mishandled, I'm just not sure if it is a CMM problem or what? Any ideas...? Neutral faceConfusedConfused

  • FYI - if it is drifting by just holding down the enable button and the reset of the jogbox does not work then your joy-stick is bad, trust me I know because I am having the same issues right now; waiting on new joy-stick to come in. I found out that before I started this job it happened back in 2010 - moving in X- direction, right now it is moving in X+ direction. One sign I know of if it starts going out is that might give what I call false readings and what I mean is while your program is in active mode and you are doing a manual alignment before actually touching the part just moving to a feature, it start beeping like it has touched the part. Cleaning the machine does not help and it does get worst. Just thought I would share......
