Labels - Blocked by model, or not

So, on one of my machines, I can see all my labels in my graphics window all the time.

In my other machine, if I rotate the model and cover up a label with the model itself, the label disappears and I only see the labels that are 'in front' of the surface I want to check.

I would prefer the second option, but I can't find any way to get this to work in the first machine. All settings that I know to check are the same.

Thanks all,
  • I also have this same question.

In most instances I want to have the labels turned on...but I don't want to see labels through the part. The way mine is setup at the moment, when I have the labels turned on, it's just a sea of labels.

I know I can hover over "right click > show id" on each, but that is massively time consuming.

  • I am not sure if this will help you, but have you tried enabling "High Quality Transparency" in the Edit > Graphics Display Window > OpenGL Menu?

There is also this modification you can do for label transparency, but I'm not entirely sure if this will help either. I have not tried this.

  • Thanks for the reply. the "High Quality Transparency" didn't do what I was looking for.

And as far as the modification for label transparency, I don't want the labels to be transparent. I just don't want to see all the ID labels all the time.

I thought I might have found something under the "ID Labels" section in Edit>Graphics Display Window> Rotate Options, but it doesn't do exactly what I want...but it's close. It appears you can set an angle, and once you rotate the part outside of that angle the ID label disappears(I'm assuming 0 deg. would be viewing the surface the hit is on at the same angle the hit is taken).

That seems overly complicated compared to just making the label disappear if you can't see the probe point, but it's better than seeing all labels all the time.
