Master Probe

Good Afternoon

I have read a number of posts regarding probe calibration and using a Master probe to relate multiple probes. I have a few questions that I did not find the answers in the posts.
Question #1 - If you are using the Master probe for measurement does it affect the relationship of the other probes if you re-calibrate A0/B0 of the Master Probe after answering "N0" to the calibration sphere move. For example - Start of shift the Master probe is calibrated at A0 / B0 and you answer "Yes" the tooling sphere has moved. Now you open a program that uses the master probe for measurement. You want to perform a calibration on the angles that are used in the program. Perform a Marked Used which includes A0/B0. You answer "No" the tool has not moved and perform calibration. Is the relationship of the other probes and angles lost???

Question #2 - Is it necessary to calibrate Master Probe every time the machine is homed??

For the record I don't reset tips on my master probe. there's no need, as there's nothing other than the diameter and StdDev to reset.

I know I can look at master probe results file anytime and see for TIP1 A0B0, THEO and MEAS have no deviations. This lets me know that no one has screwed the pooch!

Hello all, what about if i have 2 calibration ball ? should I use master probe to define both balls position ? (answer, Yes tool has moved.)

Yes. You would measure the first ball with the master probe, yes has moved. Measure the second ball, yes has moved. Then you can calibrate freely between the two, just select NO for all other probes

The order doesn't particularly matter, as long as you measure the sphere first with the "Master", say "YES", then the ones that are not the "Master" you say no.
So you could Master the first ball, calibrate a couple tips (selecting no), Master the second ball and calibrate the rest
