PDF convertor margin issue

I am running pcdmis cad++ 3.7 mr3

I have a large number of programs that generate multiple pages of hyperview reports and save them as pdf files using the built in pdf convertor.

This has always worked fine until I decided to upgrade the computer and re-install all the software on the new computer.

now, whenever a report is generated, the resulting pdf file appears to be cut off on the bottom and on the right side, its as if the report is too large to fit within the margins so it just lops off the extra bits.

the odd thing is this only started happening when the pc was upgraded. the software version and the programs are unchanged.

I cant find where I can adjust the margins (or anything else for that matter) in the pdf convertor driver, I am assuming there must be a way?

I tried searching and there are some topics that say to check in File->Printing->Report window print settings, but that setting doesn't exist on my version of pcdmis for some reason.

I installed the cutepdf printer to give it a shot and it might work but It appears that It wont save the reports automatically to the correct folder like the built in pdf printer saves them to the same folder that the hyperview reports are located in.

some of these programs have 8+ pages of reports generated, I would have to browse to the correct folder and hit save for each subsequent report. I know its do-able but to me it seems asinine to do it that way when the built in pdf convertor doesn't require any input to generate the report.

this is an example of the code I am using for printing the hyperview report

CS7 =REPORT/FILENAME= \\BETADC1\REDIRECTEDFOLDERS\CMM\MY DOCUMENTS\CMM PROGRAMS\3878\REPORTS\3878-TRIM-SHORT.RPT, AUTOPRINT=PDF

is there a different version of the pdf convertor that I can install to fix this issue?

also, the hyperview reports are indeed within the margins of the printable area (the red rectangle), and as I said they worked correctly in the past.

  • I would hazard to guess you need to update your Report.

    Try and go into whichever template you're using and see if you can adjust the margins from there.

    File>Reporting>Edit>Report Template

    this menu does not exist in my version of pcdmis.

    the way the reports are created are by copying an existing .rpt file into the new job folder, and then modifying the existing file to suit the new job. in a sense it is being used as a template but I don't think pcdmis has a template tool built in, at least not in the version I am using. I am using HYPERVIEW REPORTS in case i wasn't clear.

    What is your Windows font size factor (%)? Most new computers are prepared for high resolution screens, and set the font size to 125-150%, but PC-DMIS prefers to have it at 100%.

    What was the screen resolution of the old computer, and what is it in the new? I've seen problems sometimes when creating custom reports on one screen resolution and then running at another.

    The resolution would be the same as it was on the previous version of windows as I am using the same lcd monitor. I will take a look at the size factor. it never occurred to me that that would have an affect on the way the reports are being printed.

    I did end up realizing that there was a windows print driver installed for the built in pdf output, and it does have some preferences that you can change, but there certainly isn't an option in the printer driver for font or margins. it only allows you to select paper size, and orientation, which doesn't seem to do anything when you change it (i might experiment more with this though)

  • I was talking about the Windows main settings - right click on the Desktop, select Properties (or whatever it's called in your version of Windows). Somewhere there should be a text scaling setting, most probably it's at 125%...
