Do you have a shank probe? Sample hits should not be needed on a curved surface, just my thought. Pay attention to the pierce of the hole, a shank probe will hit the edge, meaning in my thinking, breakage or the pierce cut. It is a pain changing probes at times, depends on how critical the hole is.
