Feature Set to Surface Profile

Hi, I am new to the forum so please be considerate.

When you are creating a feature set and say you put in a circle, a line, and a plane, to create (scn1) when you output (scn1) as a profile Form+Location and MaxMin does this give you the profile of each individual point in those features or a profile of the centroids of those features?

If the centroids, Is there an easier way other than probing all the points over again or probing all the points and then creating your features to get what I am looking for?

Thank you for your help!

  • I know this is old but I don't want to re-post unnecessarily.

Can anyone confirm if this still holds true for GeoTol in PC-DMIS 2023.1?  As I understand the post here, when evaluating a surface profile, using "features" in a set instead of using individual "points" in a set will evaluate the centroid points instead of all the points along the whole surface?

  • The geometric tolerance command always grabs the hits from features, as long as they contain hits - certain constructed features (cast, generic etc.) do not contain hits.  You can report profile of a constructed set using the geometric tolerance command and it will evaluate all of the hits.  You cannot use a constructed set as a datum for the geometric tolerance command.
