When PCDMIS 2019 R2 is launched, I cannot open, create files: basically can't do anything. I submitted a ticket 4 days ago, called Hexagon and they said "We are really busy and someone will get back to you." The machine being down is causing a lot of issues within the department / company.
Any idea why this would be happening???
Is there a popup that shows, TCIP not connected or something like that? Maybe your machine is not communicating with your computer, That's the only time I ever seen where I couldn't open anything.
Just guessing-- when everything in the File menu is gray out, that could mean PCDMIS and the CMM aren't connected. Check ethernet cables are plugged in and check your Network Connections to see if the CMM is connected. Maybe your PC ethernet port went bad.
Call them. Be respectful but stern. Remind them that your SMA is current and you’re machine down and that this is unacceptable. The person on the phone will regurgitate their pre-prepared “customer service script” about how they are experiencing high call volumes and some cr@p about covid and yaddayadda.. then an actual tech will call you back within a couple hrs. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.
My personal experience with this over the last few days. I have found this to be the issue after installing the Windows Update KB5000805 and/or KB5000808 depending on the version of Windows 10. There is a bug that is introduced that causes an immediate BSOD when trying to print to certain printers. This same update has broken PCDMIS as well. Uninstalling the update does not fix the issue. Doing a system restore will. The same problems described as original poster. Cannot open any programs and no communication with the machine.
Doing a system restore yesterday fixed the problem. Came back in this morning and the problem had returned along with the said Windows update. Had to do another system restore that fixed the issue again. You will need to postpone Windows updates.
