Windows 10 Pro or windows 11 Pro

Hi All

Were currently looking at getting a laptop for the possibility of working from home if needed. A college has recommended this pc Inspiron 15 Plus Laptop Dell Inspiron 15 Plus Laptop with Intel 11th Gen H-series Processor | Dell UK We still run Pc Dmis Cad ++ 2013 MR1 i know its old software and I currently run it on a windows 10 Pro dell desk top ok. Would this older software run ok on window 11 pro ? as that's one of the selection options on the laptop.

    Are you running with "Compatibility Mode", does windows 11 allow the same ? Problem will be if Hex is will support the transition. You better ask them , they may tell you to upgrade you PC-DMIS version. I was told typically two years is the oldest version they will support. ..Otherwise stay with Windows 10 and you may have to upgrade in a few years anyway. Cost?? / Benefit??

  • I program offline with 2019R2 thru 2021R2 CAD++ on an HP ZBook running Win 10 Pro 64-bit system with 16GB RAM and an Intel i7 2.20 GHz processor. All of our programmers (including CNC programmers) use this same laptop and we have no issues. Our IT department lists the cost of the laptop at $2300 USD

    Not sure it will run 2013, I do know from a previous job that running 2012 we would experience a lot of Windows crash and but once we uninstalled 2012 and moved to V2018 those crashes stopped

    Windows 11 will be supported on PC DMIS 2022.7 Sp4 Rev 18_Release 4

    It comes out after Elon finalizes the takeover of Hexagon
  • Microsoft says it will release Windows 11 to PCs by the end of 2021 and during 2022. That's when Windows 11 will be the most stable, and you can safely install it on your PC. from the official site mysoftwarekeys.com. We still think it's best to wait a little longer. Microsoft will obviously advise a long-term upgrade to Windows 11 since it will be the latest version of Windows. However, you can still stay on Windows 10 if you want. Windows 10 will still be supported until 2025, but Microsoft hasn't said how many updates to Windows 10 will officially move forward. It's really not that important to upgrade to Windows 11 right away.

    As far as running the older software PC Dmis Cad ++ 2013 MR1, you should be able to run it on Windows 11 Pro. If anything, you can always get some cheap windows keys. However, I would recommend doing some research and testing to make sure that it will work correctly. Good luck!
