Inspection of gage dimensions

Hello everyone

I need to inspect some gage on a circular part as shown in image.
1st case : Diameter should be kept constant and distance to be inspected
2nd case : Distance should be kept constant and dimeter to be inspected

how should I proceed with programming for the same?

do you have a scanning probe? if so, i would scan a torus using radial lines (from ID to OD of torus), then extract circles from the torus at the set values.

The gauge diameter is to be kept constant as it is the theoretical perfect feature and you are assessing at what height it will fit the conical form.

yes we have a scanning probe. i couldn't find an option to create torus.

the issue here is that the feature is like a torus.

I would:

Workplane YMINUS

Create an alignment (Lets call it "A1") that controls 6 degrees of freedom & has the XY center of the part as the center of my alignment and the Z is the top

Then...

Measure the radius

Create Generic Line at (12.8345,0,0)XYZ/(0,0,-1)IJK. Line will intersect the radius. Construct a point at intersection of radius and line

Rotate base alignment (A1) and do it again in 4 or six places

Once done...

Recall A1

Recall ZPLUS workplane

Create a plane through all the points

Distance dimension from top to the plane

jigars The torus can be found in Insert -> Feature -> Measured -> Torus

I think you must have CAD++ to get the torus. The lower levels of Pcdmis get real limited real quick

Thanks DAN_M i was trying to create generic line at an angle (1,1,0) but due to some reason it was not constructing properly during execution.
rotating an alignment should do it.

have the line go straight up and down don't pierce the radii at a funky angle
