Real quick about myself: Programming CMM for 25+ years. Avail, MM4, and PC-DMIS Cad++
I was wondering if anyone has converted a MM4 program to PC-DMIS.
There are about 100 programs to do. The programs are simple, lines, planes, circles, points and a report.
It is a Brown & Sharpe Xcel machine using Windows XP computer, with the legacy bundle (emulator),and with the old world class controller.
The respond, delay on the computer is unreal, I believe it's going down for the count. .
I have tried the import option in PC-DMIS and just hangs up, or just don't work.
The reason I need to convert the programs is so I can get a newer computer on the CMM.
If there's a way, I wish someone told me 3 years ago when I had to rewrite ~50 programs when we upgraded from one of our MM4 PFX to a global using PCDMIS. Some I had open the MM4 in a text file and used as reference and some I wrote new from a print.
Although, thinking back, I would rather rewrite them anyways. It eliminated a lot of "wtf, why did they do that" moments. Things were different back then...
Old CMM Guy Regardless of the translation, I would save all those MM4 files away from that computer. Then when you get a new computer, you can try the import again to see if it does what you need.
Well, there used to be an MM4 converter for PC-DMIS but I believe support for that stopped some time ago, not even sure. Even if it were, you should be able to access it from an old version, but I do believe it is a licensed option.
I can confirm that it is still available in the menu for 2022.1, though licensed as I recall. When you said" "I have tried the import option in PC-DMIS" I was confused, I thought you already had the translator
I may not be able to help you but I'd be interested in knowing what is happening with the newer version(s). Does it do nothing? Does it crash the software? Does it translate MM4 into garbage in PC-DMIS?
