Probe Building & SM25-1 Module Issue

Hey guys,
It's been some time since I've had to build a new probe, but I'm pretty sure I did it correctly. Problem I'm having is I built the probe with all the correct components and modules (PH10MQ-SP25M-SM25-1SH25-1-TIP6by75MM_CF), but when I ask to pick the probe up, or calibrate it, it wants to go straight to the probe without picking up the SM25-1 module.
Can someone tell what I may be missing? Thanks!

  • Chris_C I call uncle.. I can't figure out how to do assign them to the ports. Any chance you could help me out?

Unfortunately, I'm working offline right now, so my current license does not support probe changers. I can't view the dialog windows to check, so I might be missing a detail here. The picture below is from the help file.

Go to Edit | Preferences | Probe Changer
Click on the tab titled 'Ports' to get here:
    1. If you have more than one probe changer, select the relevant one from the drop down on the top right.
    2. Click the (+) sign next to the port that you want to put the probe in. A little pop-up message will appear. It will show the current probe assigned to that port. Or if no probe is assigned you will see "(no probe)".
    3. Double click the probe name you want to replace or the words "(no probe)" and a list of available probes will appear.
    4. Select the name of the probe you want to assign from the list. It should now be assigned.
    5. Click Apply to save the change
    6. Now, Click the (+) sign next to the port that will hold the module. A pop-up message will appear listing all the probes that use that module. I think you need to double click the "(no probe)" option from the bottom of the list. Again, a list will appear that will let you select an additional probe to assign. Assign the new probe to this port as well.
    7. Click Apply to save the change

You may also need to edit the port's data to define the type of holder that is installed. I can't remember the options for an SP25 system. The port that has the module should say something like "No holder" while the one that holds the probe would say something like "PA25-SH". If you click 'Edit Port Data' there is a drop down list that you can select the configurations from.

In case I missed something or wasn't specific enough. Here is a link to the Help article: Ports Tab (hexagonmi.com)

Luckily, you are not trying to set up the changer from scratch, so you should be able to look at the other port configurations as examples.

Step 6 was the key!! I was in that window but missed selecting the module with the list of probes that use THAT module.

Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it! Just goes to show that if you don't use it, you lose it.
