Trouble with replacement CMM accuracy.

We just replaced an older Global Image 555 with a new Global S Blue 555. Due to the license I have available I could only move up to PC-Dmis 2015.0 from V43 MR1. I am having issues with circle and line measurements gauging inaccurately. The circular measurements are gauging 15 to 20 microns differently than other CMMs in our plant. The one line measurement is gauging about 800 microns different. I haven't been able to find any mechanical issues with the CMM. I have replaced all of the probing components to no avail. Could this possibly be an issue caused by moving to the newer version of PC-Dmis?

have you adjusted probe tip size to match the other machines?

you can adjust this diameter size to match your precision ring gage so that all the machines match up.

with that being said, there will always be the potential for some slight variation between machines and their readings.

also, disclaimer, do this at your own risk. have you considered the fact that maybe your old machines are not reading right? you need to do some double checking using known standards before you start manipulating your machine.

  • That's probe dependent. You can net the same size shift globally by altering the calibration sphere diameter instead of each probe's diameter.
