Small Datum Surface

Good morning
I was curious about a small datum surface on this nail. I have a nail with multiple cross holes ranging from 30 mm to 50 mm from the head of the nail. There is a 2.5 mm counterbore before the threads that is a locating datum for those holes.
Since the datum is split up into 3 sections, I have chose to use a touch point strategy, so I can split up the hits to make layers of one complete circle, instead of splitting up the datum into 3 arc segments to avoid the <25% arc segment danger zone. This is working for repeatability much better, but it is taking FOREVER to take all the layers in touch point!
Do you guys have any other suggestions on how to approach this small datum? Is there a scan strategy I can use (other than auto circle) that would pick up on the 3 sections for a constructed best fil cylinder?
Thank you in advance for your time.
