Insert / hardware definition / machine 2022.2 issues

Greetings all,
I am currently having issues inserting a machine cad model via insert/hardware definition/machine to my programs using 2022.2 latest updated version. The option is greyed out. I can put a fixture in my program through the same path with quick fixture. If I regress back to PCDMIS 2020 version, insert/hardware definition/machine still works, and in the 2021 version it does not. I was able to insert both our machines, an old B&W Mistral 7-7-5 and new Hexagon SF 7-10-7, in the PCDMIS 2020 version programs. I took the PCDMIS 2020 machine.dat file and copied it into the 2022.2 path location hoping the previous version .dat file would work with 2022.2. However, that did not fix the issue as it is still greyed out. So, I replaced 2022.2 again with the original machine.dat file. I did try to insert a machine in already established programs before and after initial probe settings commands, as mentioned in one thread. Also, to no avail. Any help on this would be appreciated, as I've delved into this topic within the PCDMIS forum and tried all available options I've found.

  • As a short term workaround, you could use one of the earlier versions to import the machine and then open that PRG in 2022, maybe this will help.

I don't immediately know what would cause this but I do have something you can try. Go into the Settings Editor (SE) and click on the BACKUP button to make a copy of what you have now, at least toggle the first few radio buttons to get the registry, the user files, etc. Save that aside in case you need it later. Now click on the Reset User button, and then exit. This will restore all your UI defaults to their original locations, as well as initialize some of the files involved. It will affect any existing customizations such as screen layouts, toolbar locations, colors, and more. Start PC-DMIS and try to import the machine model again.
