Proper alignment

Hi team,

I have attached partial print and would like some clarification on what the alignment should be specifically for the 3 holes to A/D-E/D .
  • Datum -A- Plane
  • Datum D-E line
  • Datum -D-

Specifically, I want to know where the X and Y origin should be based off this print.

Thanks for any help.

Greg.

  • Measure plane for A
    Align/recall startup
    -Level Z to A
    -Origin Z to A
    Measure circle for D
    Measure circle for E
Construct line between D and E centroids.
    Align/recall previous
    -Rotate Y+ to D_E line
-Origin X and Y to centroid of D
-Offset Y+ by the radius of 8.480" BASIC dim (4.240")
You have your datum structure for that measurement

I think that if you offset by the 4.240 that you could actually shift the Y origin to the nominal basic value rather then the actual measured value. I would create a mid point from the center of the D and E and set XY on that. then rotate to line DE. Then the actual size distance value is used.
