I am creating auto circles using adaptive circle scan to measure roughly 14" diameters, PCDMIS returns this error when I try to increase point density above 9 pnts/mm which equates to scans larger than 10,000 points. Is there some kind of max limit on auto features? I can create a basic circle scan with as many points as I want and it executes just fine. What gives?
Matt that is what I was saying. I can execute basic circle scans with nullfilter just fine. I am unsure why the auto circle adaptive scan limits point density. I can't find any info on that error.
the benefit on the adaptive scan is that it constructs the circle and has several filtering options built in the dialog box.
I haven't seen a problem like this but for some reason pc dmis wasn't reporting accurately using adaptive scan so I switched to basic circle scans. Maybe that was the version of pc dmis I used few years ago but I stayed with BCS since then anyways. When you construct a circle out of that it does give you plenty filtering options still. Outliers gauss best fit etcetera.
22.2 Latest SP as of last month. Another odd thing I found is the scan speed seems to be altered by points density too. This program has a scan speed of 10mm/s and if I set density to 2 or even 4 it flies around the circle, however If I increase density to 8 or 9 it's much slower as I expect it to be. And the override scan settings in the adaptive scan box IS NOT CHECKED. That's really weird!
Thanks! Very interested to see what your results are. I am using an SP25 and was on my chameleon but I will test on my global Monday. I want to like the auto circle scans but not if it restricts my points.
Are you running on an old Scheffield machine? They have a similar issue. There is a whole section in the help on the limitations of those. That was the only thing I didn't like about that machine.
