I find Parasolid files best for scanning, but to use these requires a dongle upgrade.
These are solid cad files so don't have the same problems as STEP or IGES. being hollow and made up of lots of different surfaces and split lines between surfaces. This causes the scan to sometimes have no surface data to generate the scan path or sometimes nominal data to compare in some cases.
